Champlain College Saint-Lambert is seeking two parent representatives to serve on the Governing Board in accordance with the provisions of the Colleges Act.
To be eligible, a candidate must be the parent of students currently attending the College and may not be employees of the Regional College. The representatives as elected by a majority vote of their peers within the College cast at a general meeting called by the Director of Constituent College or designate, and presided over by one parent elected by the assembly of parents in attendance.
The mandate for this position is for two (2) years. Should candidates be found, an open meeting to elect the representatives will be convoked as quickly as possible.
Among its responsibilities, the Governing Board adopts the development objectives of the College to be integrated into the Regional College’s Strategic Plan, approves annual budget estimates; approves, the objectives, standards and learning activities of the programs of college studies assigned by the Regional College, the objectives, standards and learning activities of the programs of college studies and the conditions for the implementation of those programs; and approves the Student Success Plan for the College.
The Governing Board which is composed of sixteen (16) members represents various sectors of the College and its communities. The Board meets at least (6) six times per year. Meetings are held on week days in the evenings usually starting at 6:00 p.m. at the College or via videoconferencing as the situation requires.
The Regional College Board of Governors is the legal body responsible for the governance of the regional college which includes Saint-Lambert as one of its constituent colleges. Among its duties, the Board of Governors adopt the bylaws, after consultation with each Governing Board; adopts the Strategic Plan by integrating the development objectives of the Colleges; allocates the programs authorized by the Ministry; appoints the Director General and the Directors of the Constituent Colleges; and oversees the administration of the Regional College, through the Executive Committee; The Board of Governors is composed of twenty-two (22) Governors, appointed or elected in accordance with article 33 of the Colleges Act, including two parent representatives of students attending different Colleges. These positions are shared on a rotating basis among the three constituent colleges.
Meetings are held on weekdays in the evenings usually starting at 7:00 p.m. at one of the three Constituent Colleges (Saint-Lambert, Lennoxville or Quebec City) with occasional meetings in Drummondville. Certain meetings will be held via videoconferencing as the situation requires.
